Description
The digital capabilities required to transform the industry have many digital technologies available to enable business outcomes. IOGP, anticipating what industry-level transformation could bring to the industry, has set the following goal for the newly-established Digital Transformation Committee:
Drive digital transformation of the energy industry by enabling value, ecosystem partnerships, and sustainability through scalable, standardized, and interoperable digital foundations.
A digital capability is a desired business outcome achieved through the successful utilization of digital technologies and tools. To deliver digital transformation, the industry requires digital capabilities (e.g., flare monitoring and optimization) and the associated competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities, e.g., data science). The Key Focus Areas (KFAs) outlined here are focused on digital capabilities, i.e., technology and infrastructure. A separate document describes KFAs for competencies and skills.
