Description

Geographic features representing oil and gas infrastructure mapped during offshore engineering and construction surveys are typically captured and delivered in a variety of structured and unstructured data formats. This often leads to difficulties integrating this data within enterprise databases and systems and
when sharing and exchanging this data with partners and other organizations. The Seabed Survey Data Model (SSDM), first published by IOGP in 2011, has successfully demonstrated the benefits of an industry-standard data model. IOGP has created the Offshore Infrastructure Survey Data Model (OISDM). The OISDM is a Geographic Information System (GIS) data model for the delivery and exchange of offshore infrastructure survey data acquired during offshore engineering, construction, and Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) surveys. It defines a consistent approach to data visualization, sharing, and integration.
Industry-wide adoption of the OISDM by companies operating in the offshore infrastructure survey space is intended to simplify delivery and exchange of survey data, reduce survey reporting costs, and contribute to a
reduction in operational risk associated with data sharing.

The principal purpose of the OISDM is to provide an industry model for the delivery and exchange of offshore infrastructure survey data, enabling more efficient workflows. It defines a basis for a consistent approach to rapid data visualization, data sharing and integration, and is intended for use by
• Survey acquisition and/or processing companies, or installation and/or inspection supplier companies delivering data created for an offshore infrastructure survey project to the survey purchaser
• Infrastructure operating companies sharing and/or exchanging offshore infrastructure survey data with other companies and organizations

Offshore-based survey activities supported by the OISDM include:

• Design, engineering and construction surveys of infrastructure and facilities including proposed routes, pre-lay, as-laid, as-built and as-found positions
• Out-of-straightness surveys
• Embedment surveys
• Subsea structure surveys
• Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) surveys

Version 1 of the OISDM package will unpack itself into the following structure:
