Overall plan and objectives for OSRC’26

Building on the discussions initiated at OSRC’22 in Delft and continued at OSRC’24 in Houston, this conference will further explore key topics including new statistical methods, wave-in-deck loads, and the assessment of existing structures. The aim is to address outstanding questions and ongoing challenges in the field, using the action tracker established after OSRC’22 as a foundation for continued progress. The agenda will be centered around invited speakers, while maintaining open and free attendance, and will allow ample time for in-depth discussions. The program is intended to remain focused on these core topics. The event will be hosted by Equinor in Stavanger, Norway, on September 29–30, 2026. Link to Equinor Business Center

Discussion topics where we seek consensus

• Are the new statistical methods something that should be required?
• Is the penalty by the posterior predictive for measured datasets reasonable?
• Are the new statistical methods sufficiently well described and do calculations by different analysts provide sufficient precision?
• Do we agree on a short-term distribution of wave crests and is this giving us reasonable estimates?
• How should we account for the model uncertainty in long dataset based on synthetic metocean data?
• How good is various measurement tools used to measure waves (and current?)
• Do we agree on the kinematics and loads for the new wave-in-deck methods?
• Do we have the right tools for assessing existing structures?
• What is the correct way of performing non-linear analysis and what is the acceptance criteria?
• Is the hazard and fragility curves the way forward and, if so, how should this be presented to allow for the engineering community to understand it and perform it in a standardized manner?
• How should risk related to wave-in-deck be mitigated?
