Wells activities, perhaps more so than in any other sector of the Exploration and Production (E&P) industry, places a greater reliance on the skills and judgement of individuals and teams to perform safety critical functions appropriately. Understanding human factors considerations is key to improving safety culture and, consequently, safety performance. This Info Sheet refers to the principles of human factors practice as described in IOGP Report 453 – Safety Leadership in Practice: A Guide for Managers and examines how they can be applied to wells operations.
