Assess the 2001 safety performance of the global E&P industry
A very busy year for OGP members was also, collectively, their safest ever. Having compiled the largest database in the history of safety reporting – just under 2 billion hours worked in 73 countries by 41 companies – OGP found considerable improvements in 2001 versus the previous year. Fatalities in 2001 occurred at the lowest rate since records began. The overall fatal accident rate (FAR) was 5.11 company/contractor deaths per 100 million hours worked. The lost time injury frequency (LTIF) went down from 1.88 in the year 2000 to 1.59 in 2001. This continues an improvement trend of more than a decade.
