Description

This report is published as part of the IOGP data series. Driving-related incidents have historically been the single largest cause of fatalities in IOGP member company operations. The IOGP safety database is the largest database of safety performance in the upstream oil and gas industry. The main purpose of the data collection and analysis is to record the annual global safety performance of the contributing IOGP member companies and their associated contractors on an annual basis. The submission of data is voluntary and is not mandated by IOGP membership. The annual safety data report provides trend analysis, benchmarking, and identification of areas and activities on which efforts should be focused to bring about the greatest improvements in performance. In terms of land transportation incidents, the IOGP annual safety database was limited to the number of fatal incidents in the activity category of ‘transport – land’. In 2005, the data request was extended to specifically collect global land transportation safety data.
