IOGP has set a course for our industry to focus on preventing life-changing injuries and fatalities. In 2022, an Expert Group was set up to agree upon a common industry definition of actual, potential, and near miss fatality and permanent impairment (FPI) injuries.
The IOGP definition of fatality and permanent impairment injury (FPI) was first issued in 2022 (see https://www.iogp.org/fpi for the full definition).
Report 2024f summarizes actual FPI data submitted by Member Companies participating in the data collection programme for the years 2022, 2023 and 2024. For 2024, 3.4 billion hours of data from 51 companies were analysed, including:
- number of fatalities
- number of permanent impairment injuries
- fatal accident rate
- fatality and permanent impairment rate
- permanent impairment rate
