Description
This report provides industry recommendations for well control training by outlining the curriculum principles needed to strengthen well control capability across the global oil and gas industry. It is intended to support consistent, competency-based training and assessment practices, thereby reducing the likelihood and consequences of well control incidents.
The recommendations apply to all types of onshore and offshore well operations worldwide and are relevant to personnel who plan, approve, monitor, supervise, or execute well activities at any stage of a well’s lifecycle. This includes drilling, completions, workover, well intervention (servicing/maintenance), well testing, suspension, and abandonment and production activities.
This report focuses on well control training for conventional oil and gas operations only.
This report is supported by an A3 poster, Well control training – guidance chart.
