This Report is meant to be read alongside IOGP Report 624-02-01 – Technical specification for calibration and verification of offshore surface survey and positioning systems, which provides a global common industry technical specification, accepted by both Company (‘Operators’ or ‘Purchasers’) and Contractor (‘Suppliers’), for surface positioning sensor and system calibration and verification. This document, IOGP Report 624-02-02, provides further understanding of the rationales behind the specification clauses within 624-02-01. For ease of reference and context, these clauses are repeated verbatim within this document, in bold text, with commentary and explanation to help users of 624-02-01. This document is not itself a technical specification and contains no requirements for Companies or Contractors beyond those in 624-02-01.
