Geomatics Guidance Note 25 – Dynamic versus static CRSs and use of the ITRF

IOGP Report 373-25

This Guidance Note describes recommended practice for the use of dynamic coordinate reference systems (CRSs) and their relationship to static CRSs. Such dynamic CRSs specifically include ITRF and WGS 84. This note is intended primarily to provide guidance
to surveyors and to developers of software in the onshore and offshore oil and gas industry. Its intention is to provide practical advice; it is not meant to be a comprehensive guide to all possible aspects of dynamic and static CRSs.
