Description

IOGP commissioned a study to identify the benefits of eye tracking technology to enable safety improvements for well control. The study followed experienced drilling professionals using eye tracking equipment during onshore operations. The study found that eye tracking technology is an effective analysis tool and has the potential to be of value in other human performance areas that affect wells operations. This Report further develops the findings of IOGP Report 656 – Assessment of eye tracking technology in well control operations. This study investigates potential improvements to drilling interfaces and simulators, in particular the human machine interface (HMI) in addition to identifying opportunities to minimize the impact of global well control events due to operations-related human error.
