OGP shows strong presence at SPE
OGP was well represented at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Conference held in London in April. Richard Dyve Jones, Chair of the OGP Wells Expert Committee (WEC) outlined WEC’s objectives with regard to well incident prevention, and discussed the Well Control Incident Database, operational since July 2012. His presentation also covered human factors, international standards and blow-out preventer reliability.
Gareth Williams, chair of the WEC Training, Competence and Human Factors Task Force, also gave a presentation, outlining his personal views on the importance of human factors in the industry.
OGP’s Safety Director, Patrick Toutain, participated in a panel session on contractor management which covered topics such as engagement with contractors and examples of best practice.
