Monthly Reflections December 2025
As we close 2025, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the hundreds of people who have supported the IOGP Health and Safety programmes in 2025. It has been an amazing year with incredible progress in so many areas. There are new publications on Adoption, Human Performance Framework, prevention of Line of Fire incidents and Health in the Energy Transition and publications on Land Transport, Aviation and Health in Extreme Climates. At the same time the teams have progressed on recommended Practices for Health Foundations, Mental Wellbeing, Control of Work, Contractor HSE Management, Process Safety, Diving and Geophysical HSSE with publication expected in 2026. These materials are helping to bring the industry closer to our goal of eliminating fatalities and permanent impairments and catastrophic process safety events.
A few numbers from 2025 to highlight…
- 25 Health and Safety Working Groups active
- 600+ experts collaborating
- 21 Health and Safety data reports published in 2025
- 11 Health and Safety Publications in 2025
- 2 webinars with over 1000 attendees
- Over 350 meetings held during 2025
A special thanks to the Chairs and Vice Chairs of the Committees and Expert Groups. Your leadership and guidance have facilitated our meetings, steered us through tricky discussions and resolved challenges so we continue to progress and deliver the publications to improve the health and safety for the industry.
None of this would have been possible without the support and guidance of the IOGP Health and Safety Secretariat Team and many thanks to the support teams from IOGP Communications, Editing, and Graphic Design. Your creativity ensures our reports are better presented, easier to read and meet the high standards expected from IOGP Publications.
It’s been a year of collective effort, and it’s inspiring to see how far we’ve come as a team of health and safety professionals representing the global oil and gas sector. Every step forward, no matter how small, is a step toward a safer future for everyone in our industry.
We close 2025 and prepare to start 2026 grateful for everything we have achieved and ready to continue the journey towards another year of progress and success.
Kind regards,
Steve
