OGP ‘Life-Saving Rules’ published

OGP has released its Life-Saving Rules (version 2), a set of OGP Life-Saving Rules which can be used in the oil & gas industry to mitigate risk and reduce fatalities. The current release features a major re-design of the various supporting materials.

‘If the OGP Life-Saving rules are followed, accidents may be avoided and lives may be saved,’ says OGP Executive Director Michael Engell-Jensen.

The Rules focus on modifying worker and supervisor behaviour in the workplace by raising awareness of the activities that are most likely to result in fatalities and the simple actions individuals can take to protect themselves and others.

Each OGP Life-Saving Rule consists of a simple icon and descriptive text with additional detailed guidance to explain why the Rule is important and what aspects workers and supervisors should focus on. Each Rule is also linked to controls and barriers which, if used properly, can circumvent fatal incidents.

The report also provides guidance on how to communicate and effectively implement these rules within companies.
