Voters and posters at AGM

The day after the SPE Conference, 19 April, IOGP welcomed members to the 2018 AGM. The venue was ADNOC’s headquarters, generously made available by the Company’s new Member Representative, Group HSE Unit Manager Abdulla Al Marazooqi.

IOGP Management Committee Chair Fuzzy Bitar of BP welcomed attendees from five production regions and pointed out that at a “pivotal time for our industry, the world requires more energy, with fewer emissions and at lower cost. The transition to a lower-carbon economy and a competitive market is a big challenge for oil and gas producers,” he said. But it “also provides great opportunities. As we navigate these challenges and seek to build our future, the industry’s need for a power and consistent voice is greater than ever. The role of IOGP has never been more important.”

Following approval of the minutes of the last AGM, IOGP Member Representatives received a 2017 Financial Review from Executive Director Gordon Ballard and voted in favour of approving the year’s accounts and the reappointment of the Association’s auditors.

Fuzzy concluded the meeting by announcing that the next Extraordinary General Meeting would be held in Warsaw on 14-15 November with a welcome from PGNiG.

Immediately following the AGM, IOGP, together with IPIECA, held an Industry Showcase. Executive Directors Gordon Ballard and Brian Sullivan introduced the event. The keynote speaker was ADNOC’s IOGP Member Representative, Abdulla Al Marzooqi, who spoke of his company’s HSE vision and the added value and impact gained from membership of IOGP and IPIECA.

Then followed a series of poster sessions managed by IOGP and IPIECA. IOGP’s topics were well control, the environment, safety and security awareness. IPIECA focused on climate and energy, sustainable development goals, oil spill preparedness and response and the environment (with focus that included water and biodiversity).

A surprise visit to ADNOC’s Panorama Centre, which allows continuous operational monitoring and data analysis by the latest artificial intelligence devices and platforms, concluded the Showcase.
