At the end of 2019, IOGP’s Management Committee requested the Secretariat to carry out an Operational Review. The review aimed to ensure the Association was set for success over the next 18-24 months and would act as a precursor to the longer-term Strategic review set to commence later this year.
The Operational Review led to some structural changes: a newly formed European Board with delegated authority, and restructured European subgroups, will enable European policy decisions and positions to be reached in a quicker and more efficient manner. The number of Standing Committees is being reduced to 11 and these will now be organised by Directorate, including the formation of a new Engineering Directorate, which will improve prioritisation and reporting.
Further to this two new focussed advisory groups are being put in place, a Legal Advisory Panel and a Strategic Communications Panel. “During these extraordinary times, I believe the Association is set up best to deliver IOGP priorities”, said Gordon Ballard, Executive Director.
