Recommended practice on Electrical monitoring and control systems published

The IOGP Standards Committee is pleased to announce the release of Report 684 – Electrical monitoring and control systems – Recommended practice.

The evolution of Electrical Monitoring and Control Systems (EMCS) and Power Management Systems (PMS) with digital Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) has brought significant benefits, including remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance. However, the lack of a comprehensive industry standard poses challenges in procurement, integration, and reliability.

This Recommended Practice (RP) aims to recommend application practices, functional requirements, system architectures, and condition monitoring approaches to increase system availability, improve execution efficiency, reduce project risks, and optimize maintenance. Fostering industry consistency can enhance power system safety, digital security, plant reliability, lower delivery risks, and streamline implementation.

This Report is available to download from the IOGP Publications Library.
