IOGP welcomes OPAL as its first Partner Association from the Middle East

On 28 October, at the IOGP Members’ Congress, in London, the Association celebrated a significant milestone commemorating a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) signed with Oman Energy Association (OPAL) – a non-governmental, non-profit organization representing Oman’s Energy and Minerals sector.

Established in 1998, OPAL unites more than 520 member companies with a shared vision to promote industry standards, address common challenges, and exchange best practices.

“We are honoured to welcome OPAL to IOGP as its first Partner Association from the Middle East,” said Graham Henley, CEO, IOGP.

“This marks an important milestone in strengthening collaboration and exchanging expertise between our two organizations to drive meaningful progress and advance a safer, low carbon and more resilient energy future.”

Commenting on the importance of this MOC, OPAL’s CEO, Mohammed Al Naabi, said, “OPAL is proud to partner with IOGP to advance our shared vision of excellence, safety, and sustainability across the global energy sector. This partnership supports Oman’s Vision 2040 by linking our energy community with international expertise and creating opportunities for innovation, capability development, and practical collaboration that strengthen the industry’s resilience and sustainability.”

This MoC enables IOGP and OPAL to further ramp up collaborative efforts, including sharing technical expertise and deepening collaboration on several key areas.

The main focus will be to support companies in their Health and Safety activities, including sharing relevant recommended practices and tools, and supporting OPAL’s participation in the IOGP Health and Safety Committees.
