IOGP endorses Guyana Basins Summit and Exhibition

IOGP was delighted to endorse the Guyana Basins Summit, held at the newly opened Pegasus Suites and Corporate Centre in Georgetown, from 4-6 October 2022. Under the theme of ‘Responsibly Developing the Region’s Resources for a Prosperous and Sustainable Future’ the summit provided the opportunity to hear from government, meet the major operators, licence holders, tier one contractors, service companies, and the entire value chain in Guyana’s emerging hydrocarbons sector.

Iman Hill gave the keynote address where she spoke of the benefits of countries collaborating on energy.

“Despite Guyana and Suriname being neighbouring countries, there are currently no cross-border agreements in place. To build resilient ecosystems of any kind, collaboration is an absolute must,” she said. “Add Brazil and Tobago and you can just imagine another country block of countries that can shape their economic development collectively.”

Diana Khatun, Senior Manager – Security, Subsea & Wells Expert Committee, moderated a session on enhancing stakeholder partnership on oil spill prevention, preparedness and response, which featured representatives from API, ARPEL, IADC.
