IOGP Announces Three New Board Members

(Houston, 1 May 2025) – Following recent Board elections that saw ADNOC, ConocoPhillips and Saipem join the IOGP Board, the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) has appointed three new members to its Board of Directors, who each brings extensive leadership experience from across the global energy sector.

“We are pleased to welcome Amir Gerges, Chief Health, Safety & Environment Officer, ADNOC; Angelo Spingardi, Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Quality, Saipem; and welcome back Trond-Erik Johansen, Corporate Vice President, HSE at ConocoPhillips, to the IOGP Board,” said Graham Henley, CEO of IOGP.

“Their collective deep business experience and commitment to excellence will be instrumental in advancing our industry’s performance and supporting IOGP’s mission to shape a safe, responsible, and efficient energy future,” he added.

Amir joined ADNOC’s Executive Leadership Committee in 2024 as Group Chief Health, Safety & Environment Officer. He leads the company’s HSE function and is driving ADNOC’s journey toward world-class HSE performance.  Prior to ADNOC, Amir held a variety of technical and business leadership roles — including as Shell’s Vice President Group Safety, VP Permian and VP Strategy & Portfolio for Upstream Americas.

Trond-Erik is the Corporate Vice President leading ConocoPhillips’s global HSE function and returns to the IOGP Board after serving from 2015-2023. A petroleum engineer with 38 years in the industry, he has held senior business leadership positions across the globe, including Regional President for Europe & North Africa, President Alaska, and Regional President Asia Pacific. He also previously was the Business Unit President for Indonesia and Norway.

Angelo has over 17 years of international experience with Saipem, from offshore roles to leading HSEQ strategy and operations for complex turnkey projects across the North Sea, Europe, APAC, and the Middle East. He holds a master’s degree in environmental engineering.

Graham also thanked the outgoing Board members — Flaubert Matos Machado, Head of Health, Safety and Environment, Petrobras and Helder Silva, Government Affairs & External Relations Director, Azule Energy; for their valuable contributions and commitment.

“We are grateful for the leadership and dedication each of them brought to the Board. They have helped to steer IOGP through period of growth and delivery, and their stewardship has helped position IOGP to address the challenges and opportunities ahead,” Graham said.

The appointments were confirmed at IOGP’s 51st Annual General Meeting, which took place in Houston, Texas, USA on 1st May 2025. Last year, IOGP celebrated its 50th anniversary with events in 2024 in Dubai and London. More information on IOGP’s history is available here https://www.iogp.org/50years.
