New Vice Chair at Geomatics Committee
Sigrid Matthes is the new Vice Chair of the Geomatics Committee. She joins Chair Palle Jensen in leading the Committees efforts to promote the discipline within the industry.
Sigrid says her priorities for the first year are to finalize the P6 Task force, delivery of the User Guide and possible extension of GIGS test data set.
She sees the Geomatics Committee as providing “an arena for members to exchange knowledge. The network assists in the creation of common standards (P-formats, SSDM) and helps encourage vendor companies to handle coordinate information correctly.”
She urges more members to join the committee to help develop the processes crucial in maintaining the integrity of geographically referenced data when it is transferred between applications and companies.
Sigrid has a master’s degree in geodesy from University of Hannover. In 2005 she joined Statoil in geophysical operations. She was appointed Manager of Geophysical operations in Stavanager, in 2010, responsible for geophysical operations, seismic survey design, rigpositioning and navigation quality control with general geodesy support. She currently is Leader of EXP EE GOP Geomatics and Rig positioning.
