Will oil and gas still be needed in 2040?

According to the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) 2020 Sustainable Development Scenario, in 2040, still 46 percent of the global energy demand will be met by oil and gas (compared to 56 percent in 2019). To meet this demand, significant investments in existing and new fields are required.
