Updated Recommended practices for methane emissions detection and quantification technologies published
IOGP’s Low Carbon Operational Efficiency (LCOE) has released an updated version of IOGP Report 661 – Recommended practices for methane emissions detection and quantification technologies – upstream. First issued in 2023, it has been reviewed and updated by industry experts to enrich its content, and to update and expand the number of deployable technologies.
This report provides oil and gas operators with a framework and guidelines to help select and deploy methane emissions detection and quantification technologies that are tailored to their sites and objectives in the upstream oil and gas industry. It is accompanied by an online technology filtering tool, detailed technology data sheets covering over fifty technologies and decision trees to guide deployment.
By using the technology filtering tool, companies can expand the list of possible technologies to be deployed at facilities, enhancing continuous efforts to reduce methane emissions.
The report and the filtering tool are integral parts of the IOGP Energy Transition Integrated Framework.
