Energy Transition Integrated Framework helps upstream oil and gas organizations travelling the road to decarbonize

IOGP has published an Energy Transition Integrated Framework, a comprehensive toolkit meant to guide upstream oil and gas organizations on their respective decarbonization pathways by providing different decarbonization solutions and approaches to the vast diversity of operational settings across the industry.

It is a key part of IOGP’s work to help the oil and gas industry accelerate the implementation of low carbon projects and practices across the whole industry, and available at www.iogp.org/energy-transition-framework.

The Integrated Framework presents a single source of information to aid the implementation of the IOGP Energy Transition Toolkit. It provides oil and gas organizations with decarbonization solutions and approaches under six themes:

  • Methane emissions management
  • Reducing flaring, venting and fugitives
  • Energy and operating efficiency
  • Electrifying facilities with low carbon energy sources
  • Carbon capture, transportation, and storage
  • Alternative fuels
  • With links to 40 published resources, in each of the six themes, the Framework describes what good practice looks like, and provides details on how this can be achieved.

The Framework’s focus is on the decarbonization of the industry’s own operations, pursuing a systematic decarbonization pathway starting with a significant reduction of Scope 1 emissions.
