IOGP releases the Offshore Infrastructure Survey Data Model (OISDM)

(London) IOGP’s Offshore Infrastructure Survey Data Model (OISDM) is available now. The OISDM complements the existing and widely adopted IOGP Seabed Survey Data Model (SSDM) and Land Survey Data Model (LSDM) data models with which the industry is already familiar and continues the IOGP Geomatics Committee practice of maintaining ‘out-of-the-box’ data model templates for managing survey data within a geodatabase.

The principal purpose of the OISDM is to provide an industry standard for the delivery and exchange of offshore infrastructure survey data, enabling more efficient workflow. It defines a basis for a consistent approach to rapid data visualization, data sharing and integration, and is intended for use by:

  • Survey acquisition and/or processing companies, or installation and/or inspection supplier companies delivering data created for an offshore infrastructure survey project to the survey purchaser
  • Infrastructure operating companies sharing and/or exchanging offshore infrastructure survey data with other companies and organizations

Offshore-based survey activities supported by the OISDM include:

  • Design, engineering and construction surveys of infrastructure and facilities including proposed routes, pre-lay, as-laid, as-built and as-found positions
  • Out-of-straightness surveys
  • Embedment surveys
  • Subsea structure surveys
  • Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) surveys

A detailed description of the data model may be found in IOGP Report 674 – Offshore infrastructure survey data model guideline.

The OISDM package (including IOGP Report 674) is available to download from the IOGP Publications library.
