Announcement: IOGP Launches Joint Industry Sprint 03 (JIS03) Pilot for HIPE Low Voltage Motor Data Product

The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) Digital Transformation Committee (DTC) is pleased to announce the launch of Joint Industry Sprint 03 (JIS03). JIS03 marks the commencement of the first phase for the Hub for IOGP Parts and Equipment (HIPE) development, a data solution designed to transform the standardization and digitalization of IOGP procurement specifications for parts and equipment as defined in the JIP33. JIP33 is a Joint Industry program led by IOGP that standardizes procurement specifications to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline equipment delivery in the oil and gas industry (see https://www.iogp-jip33.org).

Within the industry, there is a need to streamline the selection, application, and exchange of standard equipment requirements. HIPE’s vision is to ensure the controlled and efficient transfer of standardized data between purchasers and suppliers/manufacturers. Moreover, HIPE will link these requirements to standardized parts and equipment, represented in a digital form.

The kickoff meeting, held in May 2025, marked the beginning of HIPE development. Attended by a diverse array of stakeholders from across the oil and gas sector, the meeting garnered significant support and commitment for HIPE and for advancing equipment standardization. Attendees included representatives from Standards Development Organizations, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) firms, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and IOGP member companies.

The first phase of HIPE development will deliver a minimum viable product (MVP) pilot to test the digital enablement for low voltage motors specifications. The JIS03 MVP will assess the industry’s ability and readiness to standardize low voltage motor inquiries between purchasers and manufacturers and help design scaled methods for broader equipment procurement standardization.

Stay tuned for more updates on HIPE’s progress by visiting the IOGP DTC website.
