2018 IOGP Outstanding Young Professional Award goes to BP’s Marcin Nazaruk

(London, 16 April 2018) The international Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) has presented the 2018 Outstanding Young Professional Award (OYPA) to BP’s Marcin Nazaruk. The OYPA recognizes his achievements in the fields of health, safety, security, environment and social responsibility (HSSE-SR).

For 40 years, IOGP has promoted safe, responsible and sustainable exploration & production (E&P) operations. The OYPA was launched in association with SPE to maintain this momentum and to inspire the next generation of leaders in the upstream industry. It highlights the achievements of a professional with fewer than 10 years of E&P experience who has demonstrated outstanding talent, dedication and leadership in HSSE-SR.

“I’m truly honoured to receive the award, which is testimony to the years of support I’ve received from colleagues, managers and mentors throughout my career, as well as being a great motivator to take and apply my learnings further.” Nazaruk said.

As BP’s Upstream Human Performance Lead Advisor, Nazaruk supports a range of global initiatives that aim to integrate Human Factors with risk management processes.

“Safety is fundamental, and it’s important to work with all parties including leaders, employees and contractor partners in bringing a ‘human performance’ approach to life. By recognizing that people make mistakes and looking at the underlying conditions and systems that contribute to causing them, we can better design plants and processes to help mitigate and manage these risks” stated Nazaruk.

“Marcin’s work is exactly the type of innovative approach and out-of-the-box thinking that our sector needs to take risk management to the next level – it’s a well-deserved win” said IOGP Executive Director Gordon Ballard.

The OYPA was presented by IOGP at the SPE International Conference on Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Social Responsibility held in Abu Dhabi on April 16, 2018. The Conference brings together global professionals working in all areas of HSSE-SR to share best practices, new techniques, compliance strategies, community engagement approaches, and more.
