54,250 tennis balls will be used at The Championships, Wimbledon, this year. Petroleum naphthalene is a key component in the composition of a tennis ball – another everyday use for oil.

New balls after first seven games (to allow for warm-up), then after every 9 games. Subject to availability after use balls sold daily to Lawn Tennis Association-affiliated clubs and to spectators in the grounds. Proceeds go to the Wimbledon Foundation.
