Security Committee elects new Vice Chair

At its November meeting in Washington, DC, IOGP’s Security Committee elected Christian Slinning of Statoil, as Vice Chair.  Members also thanked outgoing Paul Reither, OMV, for his five years of ‘sterling service’ to the group.

BHP Billiton kindly hosted the two-day meeting, which included a workshop on threats and threat analysis and a session on kidnapping and ransom.  This included a presentation from Rachel Briggs of Hostage US, a voluntary organisation, on how kidnap affects victims and their families.

The agenda also covered future strategy development and workflow, information security, the importance of communication, security risk assessment and security culture.
