The upstream sector of the oil and gas industry utilizes temporary accommodation for staff living and working in a wide variety of project activities, including seismic operations, drilling, pipeline and facilities construction and geological field studies. The scale, duration of use and standards for such accommodation vary greatly from country to country and from contractor to contractor. Temporary accommodation generates significant issues in the areas of health, safety, security, social and environmental impact.

This report addresses factors that influence the selection of camp type and the selection of camp sites.
